DESIGN
Separating walls were removed and replaced with transient pocket doors that functioned as moving walls – allowing many rooms to be customized at will. Floor to ceiling door openings were added for maximum function and natural light penetration. A consistent, soothing palette of classic American walnut was blended with culinary tones of crème, caramel and crisp white to allow for the seamless transition from one space to another.
CONTEXT
“…comfortable, chic simplicity – home with a downtown edge”
Homeowners Paula and Andrew Lapkin has challenged BG Studio International Inc. to combine their existing two bedroom Upper East Side apartment, with a newly acquired adjoining studio apartment into a functional and chic home. The compartmentalized rooms and small studio were disjointed and did not provide adequate storage space for the family.
